FORUM OF MUSICIANS
Karnatik Classical music being the most ancient form of classical systems has its influence deeply rooted in the society since time immemorial. It prevails like a diamond and to acquire this jewel is in our hand. And the direction to look towards this ornament called Karnatic music is beautifully paved by one of the most prestigious sabhas of Karnataka - The Karnataka Ganakala Parishat. The Parishat has been propagating the rich musical heritage of India by organizing innumerable concerts and lecture demonstrations across Karnataka. It is a well-known fact that not all talented artists get the deserving recognition. Here the role of the Parishat is stupendous, as it has been giving artists the much-deserved platform to showcase their talent. Similarly, several scholarly books dealing with the nuances of Classical music have been brought to light by the Parishat. The Parishat has grown across time in quality and thoughts. It has widened its horizon to the broader Indian music and has significantly hosted Hindustani, Folk and Light music as well.
Another very significant achievement of the Parishat is that it confers the titles ‘Ganakalabhushana’ and ‘Ganakalashree’ to two deserving artists every year in its conference, which is one of a kind!
The Parishat has also conducted its annual conferences in places outside Bangalore like Hassan, Chikkamagalur, Ballari, Subramanya, Tumkur, Ramanathapura, Holenarasipura, Nanjanagud, Gadag, Bijapur, Belur, Mysore, Chennai, Mumbai, etc.
The main mantra behind the success of the Parishat is – by the artists, for the art with the unifying cause being the preservation, perpetuation and promotion of Karnatik Classical Music!
